For this project I paired up with AJ+ (Al Jazeera Plus), a fresh media outlet changing the way news is digested. The goal was to capture the essence of every day life for Muslims who were celebrating Ramadan in the United States. With an Instagram take over on their account (@ajplus), I was able to tell a visual story through photojournalism while providing context with each photo. The photos include a mix between street photography, photojournalism, and portraits shot on a variety of mediums. This series also looks to address a number of issues including Islamaphobia, looking to humanize a group that has recently been the target of dehumanization. The images received the highest engagement to date on AJ+'s Instagram page resonating with the audience in a profound way.
